The brief for this project was to create a concept to reflect the high spec environment established for these new business incubator units in the East London Centre in Stratford, London. The artwork needed to not only reflect the company’s corporate image but also say something about the area in which they delivered their business support services.
A ribbon of coloured panels, 22 metres long, was designed that incorporated the palette of colours in the East London Centres literature. Each panel was overlaid with an outline of a local landmark, from the Cutty Sark in Greenwich to the Swiss Re tower, or Gherkin, then under construction in the City of London.
The installation created an extraordinary sense of event as you passed through this previously sterile space and follow the story of cultural and architectural landmarks in and around the London Borough of Newham.
Tim Purcell from c03, a communications company based at the centre said “the installation says innovative, aware of the surrounding community and 21st Century, consequently it has been of considerable assistance in the way we project ourselves.”
